INNOWACJA FOUNDATION
Innowacja
(Innovation) Foundation has been established by Professor Wojciech
Pomykało by virtue of deed signed and authencitated at Notary Public
Office (Państwowe Biuro Notarialne w Warszawie) in Warsaw on 27 June
1989 (repertorium AV - 11047/89). The legal bases of its activities
have been the Act on Foundations adopted on 6 April 1984 and the
decision of the Minister of National Education of 26 July 1989
approving the Foundation and its Statutes.
The Foundation operates in the Republic of Poland, its head-office is in Warsaw.
The time horizon of the operations is unlimited. The Foundation is a legal person (corporate body).
The Innowacja Foundation has been
included into the National Court Register, the Register of Foundations
and the Register of Entrepreneurs. Since January 2004 it has been also
recognized as a non-governmental, non-profit organization within the
legal framework outlined in the Act of 24 April 2003 on non-profit
organizations and volontary activities.
The objectives, principles and the
scope of activities have been specified in the Statutes of the
Foundation.
On the 27th of June 2004 Innowacja Foundation celebrated its 15th anniversary. It was an opportunity for a review and an assessment of results.
Set up capital of the Foundation in
1989 was 100,000 zloties; after the denomination of the Polish currency
it was only 10 PLN.
The
Foundation has financed all operations from own funds. It has not
received any donations or subsidies. It has not got any sponsors.
Nevertheless the funds generated after three years of operations in
1992 were sufficient for financing of the annual national competition
for the title "The Teacher of the Year". Among the candidates for the
title were all teachers having a proven achievements in identification
and development of innovative abilities of children and youth in the
realm of humanities, technology and science. The chairman of the jury
(in the realm of science) had been professor dr hab. Stanisław Szteyn - for many years the rector of the Pedagogical College in Olsztyn. The jury for humanities had been chaired by prof. dr hab. Kazimierz Żygulski. The chairman of technological jury had been professor dr hab. Jerzy Barzykowski.
In the period 1992-1997 an
independent jury consisting of prominent scientists and scholars in
each field had selected laureates of the competition. The laureates
were recipients of the title "The Teacher of the Year" and of cars Fiat
126.
In 1992 the titles "The Teacher of the Year" were received by Aleksander Dobrzycki of Wrocław (science) and Krzysztof Karulak of Płońsk (humanities).

In 1993 the recipients of the title "Teacher of the Year" were Ms. Halina Zagurda-Czader of Czechowice-Dziedzice (technology), Mr. Stanisław Jędrzejczak of Poznań (science) and Mr. Bogdan Siemianowski of Nowe Miasto Lubawskie (humanities).
In 1994 the laureates were Ms. Bożena Antoszczyk of Wojsławice (humanities), Mr. Henryk Pawłowski of Toruń (science) and Mr. Zbigniew Frydel of Chełm (technology).
In 1995 three teachers were recognized as "The Teachers of the Year": Ms Czesława Boruc of Warsaw (humanities), Mr. Czesław Owczarek of Skierniewice (technology) and Mr. Julian Sawiński of Koszalin (science).
In 1996 the High School of Nawy in
Gdynia received a financial prize for achievement in identification and
development of the innovative abilities of the students.
In 1997 three it was
recognized that the only individual who had deserved the title "Teacher
of the Year" was Ms. Agnieszka Spikert of Olsztyn (humanities).
In 1997 the Management Team of the
Foundation suspended the competition "Teacher of the Year" in order to
allocate generated funds for the Warsaw School of Social and Economic
Studies that was set up by the Foundation.
The Warsaw School of Social and Economic Studies (WSSE) by virtue of
the decision of the Minister of National Education has been included
into the register of non-state schools on 26 June 1996. WSSE became a
legal person (corporate body).
The management Team of the
Innowacja Foundation - as the founder of the School - has been
obligated by the Statutes to set up experimental, innovative schools,
research centers and educational institutions. They are also obligated
to supervise and to support the activities of these organizations.
Within the framework of the supervisory duties the Management Team of
the Foundation nominate and dismiss the president and the rector of
WSSE, approve programs for consecutive academic years and approve
reports on annual work of the School including its financial reports.
In 2002-2004 Innowacja
Foundation had purchased technical equipment needed to start up
educational television EDUSAT for which WSSE had received a concession
from National Council of Radio and Television.
Implementation of the
state-of-the art technologies had given an opportunity to use new
methods of teaching at the Warsaw School of Social and Economic
Studies. The new methods have been particularly important for
extra-mural students. The
implementation of modern teaching tools for the benefit of students of
WSSE has been a proof that the Foundation is reaching the main
objective of the Statutes.
The Management Team of the Foundation (at the present time: President - Professor Wojciech Pomykało, Vice-President - Ms. Lucyna Kasprzak) have been deeply involved in international cooperation (USA, China, Germany, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Russia) in the realm of publishing, education and others.

The Foundation had initiated also the International Consortium of Universities and other academic schools and research centers.

WSSE was also visited by the representatives of Mannheim University (Germany), prominent scholars form China and many scholars from numerous other countries.
The Management Team of the Foundation and its Supervisory Board (chairman - prof. dr hab. Jerzy Kuciński, vice-chairman - prof. dr hab. Henryk Chołaj, secretary - prof. dr hab. Stanisław Łopatniuk) have helped the WSSE and its leaders and inspired the development of the School. The Management Team and the Board have undertaken a number of new projects. One of them is - initiated by the Foundation - an international organization with German, Russian and in the near future - Ukrainian partners. The next proposal of the Innowacja Foundation is Cooperate Savings and Credit Bank - Innovation.
The
practical tasks of the Foundation have been realized and supervised by
the Management Team and the offices in charge of economic projects,
publication and investments.
The Foundation has been the
employer of 10 full-time and 3 part-time employees. Some individuals
are hired on ad-hoc basis for particular tasks and projects.
The Innowacja Foundation has been
the chief investor of WSSE construction project in Babice Stare near
Warsaw.

The property of Innowacja Foundation (real estate, hardware) has been assessed for circa 15 million PLN. It serves the objective - to achieve goals envisaged in the Statutes of the Foundation.
